About Our Work

WELCOME TO THE LOST COAST STUDIO.
The images we share with you here begin with a simple and compelling desire: to render captivating images of the beauty and mystery of life on Earth - images that are more numinous than literal, more intimation than documentation.
Each photograph is a single exposure image, arising from a combination of slow shutter speed and simultaneous camera movement. We use Photoshop in the manner of a ‘digital darkroom', adjusting color balance, contrast etc. to coax out the digital file's inherent potential.
Although some of our photographs may appear to be multilayered composites, they are not - nor are they the result of Photoshop special effect filters. Indeed the challenge inherent in our photography - a challenge that we enjoy immensely - is to achieve these complex portraits without the use of special effects.
